RuneScoop Monster Secrets - Waterfiend Guide Until early 2008, waterfiends were known solely as pests that would pepper you with ranged and magic attacks when you were trying to run to the mithril dragon lair. And then came the Summoning skill. Seemingly recognizing that these monsters had very little appeal up to that point, Jagex gave these fairly tough beasties very impressive charm drop rates, as well as one of the highest percentage of crimson charm drops in the game. Virtually overnight, waterfiends were transformed from annoyances to be avoided, into prime monster slaying fodder. Im currently level 96 Summoning, and I got the majority of my XP using pouches made from crimson charms earned via combat with waterfiends. In my hundreds of hours of fighting these I have tried every trick in the book, and have also updated my techniques to account for recent changes in the game. In this guide I will tell you all that you need to know to be an effective waterfiend slayer, letting you get not only lots of Summoning charms but also some cash to help offset those pricy spirit shards. :) Sponsored links help make RuneScoop possible; RuneScoop members don't see them. See here for more information about ads. I begin this section with an introduction to waterfiends and a list of my recommended skill levels for fighting them using my techniques. I describe these critters in detail, so you understand what they are about and what challenges they pose, and also discuss their drops, both regular and charms. I then outline some of the issues that I explored in devising my methods, and why I made particular equipment and strategy decisions. I tell you where the waterfiends are and how to get to them. And then I have three detailed methods that tell you exactly how to fight waterfiends using standard combat, with prayer to speed up charm gathering, and finally, the fast but dangerous multicombat technique. NOTE: As part of the quest The Temple at Senntisten, you gain access to the old fortress of Ghorrock, in which are found a new variant of waterfiends. These are very similar to regular waterfiends, with one important difference: they drop far fewer Summoning charms. Since charms are the primary attraction of waterfiends to begin with, I do not discuss the Ghorrock waterfiends here; you can find some basic information about them in their Beastopedia entry.
