Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Brute

Brutes are large, barrel-chested warriors that focus on offense at the expense of defence. They wear bulky body armor, though they tend to be much easier to hit than forgotten warriors of a comparable level. An indication of their power is given by the fact that they wield and use mauls (two-handed weapons) in one hand.

These monsters are capable of dishing out tremendous amounts of damage and should be taken very seriously. Even a level 75 brute can hit for over 250 life points! In teams, many player prioritize taking brutes out first, because of the damage they can do, and the speed with which they can usually be dispatched.

Brutes used to have a unique and annoying ability to physically impede your movement, so that you could not run past them. In this, they were similar to how brawlers work in Pest Control. This was mercifully removed in a May 2010 update.

Brutes are one of the Daemonheim monsters that appears to exist not just in a few combat level variations, but actually in tiers similar to those used for equipment. The higher the combat level of the brute, the stronger the maul it uses; these actually appear in the appropriate metal color on the monster. It is also possible to get these level-matched mauls as drops from brutes, though this is not a very common occurrence.
