Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Farming Patches

Some skill stations, like spinning wheels and cooking ranges, work pretty much the same way in Daemonheim as they do above ground. But some work completely differently, and farming patches fall into that category.

First of all, these aren’t patches of ground at all; rather, they look like troughs that have been suspended off the ground and filled with dirt. They are one of the more common skill stations, with there often being several on even a small floor. Farming patches are most often located along walls or in corners, and can sometimes be found near cooking ranges.

Most of the changes made to Farming in Daemonheim are geared towards making the skill more practical in a dungeon raid environment. Nobody would want to have to wait 75 minutes for herbs to grow, for example, or to need to haul around a whole bunch of tools! Thus, Farming in Daemonheim involves the following changes compared to conventional Farming:

  • The same patches can be used to grow either herb seeds or food seeds, including cave potatoes and both types of mushroom (gissel and edicap).

  • No tools are required. To use a farming patch, simply click on a seed in your inventory and then click on the patch. (There are no tool leprechauns either.. though that would have been pretty funny!)

  • You do not need to fertilize or water patches.

  • There is no chance of failure; as long as you have the Farming level for a particular seed, it will always grow.

  • Seeds “magically” grow much faster than they do above ground. After 30 seconds, you’ll see your seeds sprout, and after just 60 seconds, your crop is ready to pick.

  • These patches don’t grow weeds, so you can come back any time and reuse them as needed.

Now that Jagex has added herb seeds to the smuggler, farming patches are more important than ever. They are commonly used to grow the herbs needed to make stat boosting potions to open doors or complete puzzles. Farming itself can be bumped up using a weak, regular or strong naturalist’s potion.

You generally get from two to five items from a patch when harvesting it. I am not aware of any particular factors that influence how many items you receive.

The skill tables include tables showing the level requirements and XP for growing both food crops and herbs. Note that while textiles are considered part of Farming, you cannot grow them; they just appear on their own as random skill resources.
