I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Forgotten Warrior

Forgotten warriors are the human opponents in Daemonheim that are the melee counterparts of forgotten mages and forgotten rangers. They are one of the most common “monsters” found in the dungeons, and also the one that exists in the most variations: I have documented 60 instances of the forgotten warrior so far, and expect that as many as 20 or even 30 more may exist.

Like their spell-casting and arrow-tossing brethren, these represent a step up in realism from the foes encountered in traditional dungeons. They wear level-appropriate armor, with the lowest-level ones wearing novite gear, and this increasing up to the very highest-level warriors that appear to wear promethium or even primal armor. These are organized into tiers, just like the metals themselves, and you can often tell what type it will be by looking at them; for example, warriors with combat levels in the 60s wear the distinctive gold-colored zephyrium armor. They also use a variety of weapons, with the weapon wielded by a particular warrior having a real impact on the type and strength of damage dealt, as well as the potential drops when it is killed.

Fighting a forgotten warrior is like fighting a player wearing melee armor. They are very strong to stab, slash and ranged attacks, somewhat weak to crush attacks, and very weak to magic. While lower-level warriors can be simply overpowered using any attack style, the higher level warriors are very difficult to damage even with the strongest melee weapons, 99 stats and the use of enhancing prayers. The exception to this is the small number of “barechested” warriors that are not wearing any upper body armor; in a note of realism, these have much lower defence, even at high levels.

In large dungeons with high-level monsters, just the possibility of running into level 100+ forgotten warriors justifies at least one player having runes to cast a high-level attack spell such as Fire Surge. This can save a lot of time and food.

Unfortunately, the inability of players to hit through the warriors’ heavy armor doesn’t work in the other direction. If you are wearing very good melee armor, that does not mean these warriors will have trouble hitting you! Higher level warriors using 2H swords, spears or other heavy weapons can dish out a lot of damage. Protection from Melee or Deflect Melee are recommended when fighting high-level warriors.

Forgotten warriors may drop items appropriate to what they are using. For example, if you see a level 96 to 100 warrior in bright silvery armor, that’s a tier 9 forgotten warrior wearing gorgonite armor, which may drop gorgonite armor pieces when killed. These warriors also generally only drop the same type of weapon they are attacking with. The exception to this is that the level 130+ “primal” warriors do not appear to drop primal equipment (which may be reserved for bosses).

Versions and Combat Statistics

Forgotten warriors are found in various tiers, with combat level roughly corresponding to the type of equipment used. Then, there are several versions of the warriors within each tier, having slight variations in combat level, life points and maximum hit. These differ from each other mainly in the weapon used, and sometimes also in the armor worn.

Table 62 lists all of the forgotten warrior instances I have managed to document so far. This is different from some of the other monster tables in that the warriors are grouped by tier. I have specified for each tier the type of metal of the gear used and dropped by the warriors. Another column indicates the type of weapon used by that particular warrior, with a question mark added in cases where I was not sure what the weapon was (based on appearance), and didn’t get it as a drop as confirmation.
