Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Fremennik Scout

One of the few friendly NPCs in Daemonheim, the Fremennik scout is working to set up a base for adventurers like yourself to use. And just like you are doing, he needs weapons for fighting and food for healing. Help him and he’ll help you on your way.

General Description

Sponsored links help make RuneScoop possible; RuneScoop members don't see them. See here for more information about ads.

I’m always surprised when I find this room, because it looks so much like the starting room, and I wonder if I’ve gone in circles! There’s an NPC Fremennik in there, wielding a battleaxe and shield, and a number of workstations, including a furnace and anvils like you find in the starting room.

If you talk to the scout, he’ll tell you why he’s there and tell you that you need to help him before he unlocks the doors. (That’s not very friendly, is it?) You can also ask him for a knife or a hammer if you don’t have either, which you need to perform the tasks at hand.

There are three stations nearby where you need only left-click to do what he desires, which is to smith some battlaxes, cook some raw fish, and make a few bows. It’s really a rather simple “challenge”.

Since you are cooking, fletching and smithing in this room, you need the requisite levels in these skills to complete the tasks at hand.

Summary of Key Attributes
  • Skill Requirements: Cooking, Fletching and Smithing.

  • Tool Requirements: Hammer and knife (provided if necessary).

  • Overall Difficulty: Low.

  • Added Difficulty for High Latency Connections: None.

  • Danger Level: None.

  • Time Required: Low.

  • Monsters in Room? No.

  • Resources in Room? Yes.

  • Impact of Team on Puzzle: None.
Recommended Strategies for Solo Players

You don’t need to talk to the scout; just enter the room and get to work.

Next to the furnace you’ll see a crate of metal bars with the left-click option “Smith-battleaxes Crate of bars”. Click it, and you’ll see your character make a few axes.

Near the fire you’ll see a crate with the left-click option “Cook-fish Crate of raw fish”. Again, just click it and you’re done.

Finally, look for the crate of wood with the option “Fletch-bows Crate of logs”. Same deal, just click it.

The Fremennik scout will then unlock the doors.

Note that if you try to actually take any of the items you made, the scout will scold you and you won’t be able to. How’s that for gratitude!

Recommended Strategies for Teams

This appears to be the same for teams. You may need to find the player with the highest non-combat skills to do the challenge.
