Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Furnaces and Anvils

Furnaces and anvils are used to transform ore into bars and then forge them into weapons and armor. They work pretty much the same way here as they do in the rest of RuneScape. The most notable difference is that in Daemonheim, furnaces and anvils are always located together, so there’s no need to find a furnace to make bars and then find an anvil to make items from them.

Furnaces in Dungeoneering are pretty large skill stations that are always located in a corner of a room. Three anvils are attached to the furnace, radiating outward along both walls that make the corner, and another in the middle at a 45 degree angle from both walls. A furnace and set of anvils is always located in a dungeon floor’s starting room, for convenience.

To smelt bars, click the furnace, then right-click the type of bar you want and select the number you’d like to make. You can also use an ore on the furnace to immediately make it into a bar with no interface coming up; this will also conveniently cause all other ores of the same type to be smelted (as of the May 13, 2010 update.)

To smith items, click one of the anvils, select the bar type you want to forge, then right click the armor or weapon and choose a quantity. You can save a step by using the appropriate bar type directly on the anvil.

Like so many other skills, Jagex has arranged the Smithing skill within Daemonheim to be a lot more logically structured than it is in the rest of RuneScape. The levels required to make a particular item range from 0 to 9 levels above the basic level requirement for the tier of metal being worked, and this is consistent for all bar types. For example, you need level 10 Smithing to make bathus bars and level 17 Smithing to forge a bathus plateskirt; likewise, you need level 80 Smithing to make katagon bars and level 87 Smithing to make a katagon plateskirt. This makes things a lot easier to understand and remember.

The Smithing skill table lists XP rates and level requirements for smelting and smithing all ten Daemonheim ores. Stats for weapons and armor are covered separately.
