Please Whitelist This Site?

I know everyone hates ads. But please understand that I am providing premium content for free that takes hundreds of hours of time to research and write. If I can't make at least a little bit of money to support my family via this site, I'll have to stop working on it.

One alternative is to become a RuneScoop member. It's cheap, you get access to all of the site with no ads, and you help keep the lights on around here.

If you want to use this site for free, I'd be grateful if you could add RuneScoop to the whitelist for Adblock. To do so, just open the Adblock menu and select "Disable on Runescoop.com". Or go to the Tools menu and select "Adblock Plus Preferences...". Then click "Add Filter..." at the bottom, and add this string: "@@http://*runescoop.com/*". Then just click OK.

Thanks for your understanding!

Sincerely... Qeltar, aka Charles, your hard-working host and RuneScape guide-writer extraordinaire. :)

Warrior, Ranger and Mage Triangle

This simple puzzle is based on the three combat methods in RuneScape. When you enter you’ll see statues of a warrior, a mage and a ranger, one of whom is missing his signature weapon. Carve it from a piece of stone and put it in his hands to unlock the door.

(This room should not be confused with the superficially similar but more difficult ten-statue combat triangle puzzle.)

General Description

In the center of the room you’ll find a tangible representation of the RuneScape combat triangle: statues of a warrior, mage and ranger arranged in a triangle. Two will be holding weapons while one will not. To unlock the doors, you must mine a rock from the crumbling wall in the room, carve it into a sword, bow or staff, and arm the statue that is missing its weapon. You need to bring with a pickaxe and hammer, but a chisel is provided.

This puzzle has a Mining skill requirement (to mine the crumbling wall) and Crafting (to make the weapon). If you don’t meet the requirements, you may be able boost your Mining high enough to do the puzzle. To try this, make a weak, regular or strong gatherer’s potion (using sagewort, wormwood leaf or winter’s grip respectively, mixed with red moss). Crafting can be boosted via artisan’s potions (valerian, magebane or lycopus plus red moss).

Recommended Strategies for Solo Players

First, you’ll need a pickaxe, a hammer, and two empty inventory spaces. Go back for the tools if needed, and drop a couple of items temporarily if you need the room.

Pick up the chisel from the center of the room, then locate the crumbling wall: look on your minimap for a red spot on the edge of the room about half the size of a door indicator. It will be either in the middle of a wall or in the corner of a wall that has a door.

Go over to the wall and click it to mine a stone block; it is possible to fail and get hit for considerable damage, so top up health before you begin. Once you have the stone block, you need to figure out which weapon you need. You can do this by eyeballing the equipment worn by the statues, to see if it is the warrior, mage or ranger missing the tool of his/her trade. If you aren’t sure, right-click and examine the two armed statues. This will make it obvious which weapon is missing.

Click the block (no need to “use” the chisel on it) and make the appropriate item. Again here, you can (somehow) greatly damage yourself, which also destroys the block in the process; you’ll need to mine another. Once you have the right weapon, click the third statue to arm it, and you’re all done.

Oh, don’t forget to drop the chisel. :)

Recommended Strategies for Teams

The puzzle is the same for teams. Usually it will have a Mining requirement based on the player with the highest level in that skill, so have that person do it.
